The idea

Room for a
different reading.

The Bible has left its mark on art, culture and the way people think. But what do you make of it?

We explore its books together, including some that aren’t in most editions of the Bible. You can question what you read, disagree, or simply listen. Your conclusions are your own.

Before you come

Good questions
start here.

Do I need to be a Christian?

No. The group welcomes people with different beliefs, including people who don’t have a faith. Interest in the conversation is enough.

Should I read anything beforehand?

No preparation is expected. We explore the reading together, and the group helps decide which books to discuss.

Is this connected to a church?

The Book Club has a connection with Holy Word Lutheran Church. The evenings are informal book discussions in a pub, with room for questions and disagreement. You don’t need to share a faith or attend church to take part.

How do I book, and is there a cost?

Use our Meetup group to check the next event’s attendance details and any charge before you come.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. You’re welcome to join by yourself. Ask for The Book Club when you arrive, and feel free to message the organisers on Meetup beforehand.

Will photos be taken?

The organisers may take photos to share on Meetup or social media. If you’d rather not be photographed, let them know when you arrive.
